The Hardy Wine Company is pleased to announce an internal restructure and expansion to reflect its reinvigorated focus on quality.
Under new President John Grant, who commenced in March 2007, the company is looking to build on its exceptional wine show results and flagship wines for further growth.
To support this refreshed focus, Damien Smith has been appointed to the new position of National Cellar Door & Functions Manager and will commence on 27 August.
Damien will be using his background in luxury wine brands to implement initiatives at each of the 17 Hardy Wine Company cellar doors around Australia aimed at lifting their profiles and expanding the consumer experience.
Damien’s background includes sales, brand development and customer hospitality roles in Australia and New Zealand with Moet-Hennessy, working with premium wine brands including Moet & Chandon, Krug, Domaine Chandon, Cape Mentelle and Cloudy Bay.
Continuing the unbroken 154 year association of a Hardy family member with the company, Alix Hardy has been appointed as Public Relations Coordinator.
Alix is a sixth generation descendant of Thomas Hardy, the founder of the Hardy Wine Company, and the daughter of Bill Hardy, Group Oenologist.
Commencing on 1 October, Alix brings extensive experience in wine sector public relations including time in European markets.
Also complementing the Hardy Wine Company’s activities, Nicky Gameau has been appointed as Senior Global Brand Manager of the Hardys brand, commencing on 20 September.
Nicky has nine years experience in the wine sector, most recently as International Market Manager — Americas for Pernod Ricard based in New York.
Nicky’s extensive experience includes brand management, new product development, sponsorship management and communication development.
Steve Barbera, Senior Vice President Global Trading & Marketing, said he was delighted with these three new appointments.
‘The Hardy Wine Company is going from strength to strength, with recent wine show results highlighting our outstanding portfolio of wines’, he said.
‘The appointments of Damien, Alix and Nicky reflect the commitment to driving this premium quality throughout all aspects of the company and we look forward to exciting and innovative initiatives in consumer and trade programs in the coming months.’
