Helm Wines of Murrumbateman in the Canberra District have taken the top gold medal in the 2007 Riesling class at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
Results of the massive 3846 entries were announced last night for the 2007 event. Helm Classic Dry Riesling 2007 won the top gold and only gold medal for 2007 Australian Rieslings.
One of the most prestigious wins for Canberra wines in the last 30 years, since the Helm Riesling 2007 won against 45 of the best Rieslings in Australia.
It has been a winning week for Helm Wines, with the Trophy for Best Riesling from the Winewise Small Vignerons Awards, last Friday for the 2005 Premium Riesling, and now the top 2007 Gold in Melbourne. Helm Rieslings have now won 6 trophies and 8 gold medals in the last 3 years.
Ken Helm said "These wins against the best wines and wineries in Australia firmly establishes Helm Wines among the top Riesling producers in Australia."
